Saints Sign First Round Draft Pick Cameron Jordan

New, comments

Cameron Jordan has agreed to terms with the New Orleans Saints. The news comes via Adam Schefter:

And another 1st rounder gets done: Saints reached agreement with 1st-round pick Cam Jordan.

Cameron was the final draft pick the Saints needed to sign. As Dave already noted here, the Saints were already either at the 90 player limit or possibly over it. I'd expect to see a cut or two shortly in order for the Saints to make room.

Now that Jordan is signed, the Saints have more defensive linemen to play around with and see just how versatile he is. Gregg Williams may be able to use him all over the line, and if so, that will help the Saints lack of defensive tackle depth. Jordan should report to camp when it resumes tomorrow, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

It is currently unclear if Jordan was able to get all four years of his contract guaranteed, but when we find out, we'll update this post.

UPDATE: The details of Jordan's deal are revealed by Brett Martel:

The #Saints gave Jordan a 4-yr deal worth around $7.7 M. Still working on details concerning guarantees.
