I think we've all had enough time to calm down a bit after that mostly pitiful performance by the Saints against the Texans on Saturday night. I know I have at least. In fact, I think we should all try and look at the more positive side of the situation.
For instance, let's keep in mind that these two teams will face each other again during the regular season. And while Houston's first teamers did look impressive, I think we saw the best the Texans have to offer as far as their offense is concerned. Just personal opinion there. At the same time, we all know damn good and well that the Saints defense can play better. You know, like make tackles and in-game adjustments and stuff.
So if we assume that this perfect storm of good offense and bad defense is not likely to occur when they meet again in a month, the results have got to be better for the Saints. That doesn't necessarily mean they'll definitely come away winners, though I think it's likely, but you can bet your ass it's going to be a better show.
I wasn't before but I am now very much anticipating the Saints opportunity to take on the Houston Texans later this season, this time when it counts. After years of playing and practicing against each other during the preseason, perhaps a healthy rivalry with the city down the road has finally formed.
