Da Chronic's Got Talent: An Introduction

Well, as it turned out, there were quite a few of you who inquired within and responded to my help wanted post this week with an interest in becoming a front page contributor. More than I expected, in fact. Which is awesome! So the next step is determining who will officially join the Canal Street Chronicles team. That's where you guys come in.

Everyone who responded with an interest in writing for Canal Street Chronicles was emailed instructions and is now responsible for submitting to me a writing sample by Sunday. Something that shows us all exactly what we can expect from their future work on the blog.

Throughout the next week or so, I will post each candidates submission anonymously on the front page and solicit feedback from the community. Whoever receives the overwhelmingly positive support of the CSC community will most likely be given a regular position on the writing staff.

That means this isn't a competition. There aren't a limited number of spots available, nor do I have a quota to fill. Everyone who submits a sample could be asked back for a regular gig or none of them can. Chances are it will be somewhere in the middle. Either way, it depends mostly on you.

Each of our potential new writers will be contributing at a frequency of their choosing, but will be held responsible for maintaining that frequency should they earn a regular position. Ideally, I will be including the potential posting frequency of each writer with his/her submission to give you a better idea of how often you might expect to read something from them.

Submissions will be posted anonymously so that readers may offer honest feedback but please remember that the authors will most assuredly be reading your comments. So all criticism must be constructive. Keep Da Chronic classy.

What do you guys think? Is this exciting?
