No word yet on the health statuses of right tackles Zach Strief and Charles Brown, but the signing of William Robinson today may give a clue that the Saints aren't optimistic either will play this weekend against the dominating defense of the San Francisco 49ers. You may remember that starting right tackle Strief went down with a groin injury three weeks ago and Brown sutained a sprained MCL last Sunday against the Raiders. Undrafted rookie free agent Bryce Harris filled in after Brown left the game.
This will make around the 40th time this season that the Saints have released WR Greg Camarillo. No surprise there that he was the odd man out when they needed to open up a roster spot.
Here's a little info on Robinson:
Robinson spent most of last season with the Saints as he was on the practice squad for the first 10 games and on the active roster for five games before being let go before the Week 17 game against Carolina.
We probably won't get an injury report from Joe Vitt until tomorrow after practice. We should get some indication then if Strief or Brown have any chance of returning this week. If they don't, Harris and Robinson will get a trial by fire as they face a 49ers D-line that absolutely steamrolled the Bears' O-line for four full quarters last night. Keep your fingers crossed and stay tuned.
