Play To Win Or Play For 2013?

Should the Saints play to win in their three final games, or look to the future and give backups and younger players a chance to play?

Who else should see extended playing time if 'Tis the Preseason again for the Saints?

The New Orleans Saints find themselves in an unfamiliar position here in mid-December 2012. For the first time in years, they are mostly out of playoff contention with a 5-8 record, yet they still have three games left to play.

So just what should they do with these last three games? What would YOU do with these last three games?

Option 1: Play To Win. As failed head coach Herm Edwards is known for saying, "You play to win the game." The Saints could game plan and prepare just like they always do, and then go out there on the field, giving it their all to score more points than the other team.

Option 2: Lose On Purpose (or Go Stinky for Kiki). The worse the Saints finish, the better the draft pick, so they could tank it on purpose in hopes of getting a great defensive player (Barkevious "Kiki" Mingo, perhaps?) like in the faux "Suck for Luck" campaigns of 2011.

Option 3: 'Tis The Season For Preseason...Again. With the season virtually over, the Saints could look to the future by treating this three-game run like a bonus form of preseason. Put in the scrubs and younger guys to to see if they can stake a claim on a starting position for 2013. Let's see what Chase Daniel can do with a full game at the helm! How does Drew Brees look holding a clipboard and wearing a ball cap and headset?

And now, I ask you again...What should the Saints do with these last three games? What would YOU do with these last three games?
