The magic number for D is 271 yards. If it allows more than that v. Carolina, will set record for most yards allowed in a season.

O set NFL mark w/ 7,474 yards last year. Would be quite the double for D to set record for most yards allowed (6,783) a year later.

INJ: DNP - Pierre Thomas, Jed Collins, Akiem Hicks, Jabari Greer. Full: Jimmy Graham Chris Ivory.

Vitt said third down has been more of a key to winning this year than in years past for Saints. Said it was the No. 3 key to winning in 2012

Vitt said you are who you are and the Saints are still ranked last in defense.

Vitt said there's no one in the building who is happy with 8-8, but finishing the season there is better than having a losing record.

Vitt: Carolina hard to prepare for because O totally different. Wildcat, pistol, unbalanced, zone read, naked bootleg, option. etc.

Vitt stat of week: NO is 5-1 when converts 47 percent or more 1st downs, 5-1 when D holds teams to 38 percent on 3rd down or less.

Vitt: has not paid any attention to which players are cap friendly, which ones aren't, who will be back next year because of that.

Brees says just from watching D in practice that they're playing a bunch of confidence.

Pro Bowl selections get announced tonight. Brees says he thinks he, Morstead, Colston & J Evans should at least get a shot.

Drew Brees on being called the best team not in the playoffs: I hate that title.

Twins?!? That’s what I’m talkin about! Much love to the family &
