Saints Trail Giants 21-13 After Half

Despite dominating in many statistical categories the Saints are down but certainly not out after one half of play against the NY Giants at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.

USA TODAY Sports

It was an action-packed first quarter filled with two Saints fumbles (Colston, Collins), a 73-yard pick six by Elbert Mack followed by a 97-yard kickoff return by David Wilson.

The Saints have been unable to find the end zone on offense, only adding points via two Garrett Hartley field goals. The Giants added touchdowns with passes to Martellus Bennett and Domenick Hixon.

On the bright side, I'm happy with the Saints dedication to the run. Sproles and Ingram have combined on 11 carries for 83 yards. Pierre Thomas is also looking good with 36 yards receiving.

Saints special teams will definitely need to clean up their act, as David Wilson already has 224 kickoff return yards in one half of play. The Saints also need to clean up the penalties; they have six for 50 yards.

The Saints will start the second half with the football.
