TWEETS:

Why don't all of u and sapp ask all my teammates!!

FYI- was a great team mate

We need to stick together, the city of and the always have each others back.

Saints punishment all about NFL showing concern & taking action for player safety in light of retired player concussion lawsuits. Period.

Sources in New Orleans say Offensive Coordinator Pete Carmichael will replace Coach Payton as the Head Coach

Gregg Williams releases a statement. "I accept full responsibilities for my actions... I will continue to cooperate fully with the league."

Williams: "I will do everything possible to re-earn the respect of my colleagues, the NFL and its players in hopes of returning to coaching"

The mob soon will gather with torches.... RT : BOYCOTT JEFF DUNCAN

"Who Dats" sure do get off on misery don't they? Been waiting for the other shoe to drop since 1967. Time to find a third shoe, I guess.

This will make for a great story when we win it all this year... Coming back stronger...Again!

Rodger is going hard in the paint! To all my former teammates keep your head up y'all will make it through this

No 1 man should have all that POWER!...

Even the president of the united states has the possibility of impeachment!... What's wrong with this picture!

Hate to break it to you , Benson and the city will rally around Payton. So he'll still be around to talk down to you.

Former Saint Joe Horn says EVERY NFL team has a program like the Saints bounty program. Says in KC and ATL players were paid for cart offs.

RT : who get the 2nd round draft pick now that the saints are losing them? >> Nobody. draft slot forfeited

This is absolutely absurd! I'm speechless to say the least!

I am speechless. Sean Payton is a great man, coach, and mentor. The best there is. I need to hear an explanation for this punishment

Terrible day for the saints fan base! Ruling is very strong! Now it's imperative the saints get deal done with brees!

Regardless it's gonna be tough year with a QB whose has been a bit disrespected by stalled contract negotiations and loss of leadership!

Tough to agree with these suspensions

LB Jon Vilma, the only Saints player mentioned by name, likely in line for steep discipline as well. Saints have been searching for ILBs...

And may need to add at least one as protection if Vilma is lost for a significant period of time

My question is once Pete Carmichael coaches the to a 14-2 reg season and deep into the playoffs, will they even invite Payton back?

Can we all say

i thought goodell would come down hard on the saints and williams, but this goes beyond anything i envisioned. WOW!!!

Players facing potential discipline still under review

We take the good with the bad. You find out who's in and who's out and you go play ball. Its an attitude

The NFL has come down hard on the Saints for their role in running a bounty program, and it's not cheap: the team must pay a fine of $500,000. But they'll recoup that easily, because head coach Sean Payton's one-year suspension is without pay. According to Jay Glazer, Payton's salary is about $8 million annually.
