Saints Sign Linebacker Chris Chamberlain

The Saints have signed former St. Louis Rams linebacker Chris Chamberlain. The news appears to come directly from Chamberlain, who tweeted this:

Thanks to everyone in Stl for four great years! However, just joined the Who Dat Nation!!! It's official, I'm a Saint!!! #whodat #Saints

Yeah, baby!!! Now we're talking! So happy to see the Saints take a stab at some help at the outside linebacker position. Chamberlain plays primarily the weakside, but can also play the strongside.

No surprise, given defensive coordinator's history with the Rams. Coaches often take players with them to new teams, and it looks like that's what's happened here.

Here's a little more about Chamberlain's career, from the Saints official website, and a look at his stats with the Rams last season:

Chamberlain, 6-1, 238 pounds, was originally picked by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round (228th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. In four seasons in St. Louis, the former University of Tulsa standout has appeared in 59 games with 19 starts, where he's notched 112 tackles (70 solo), two sacks, one interception, three pass defenses and one forced fumble, while contributing extensively on special teams with 73 stops.
