It's a week until the draft now, so it's time for some draft talk...even if the Saints don't pick until late Friday night.
Pat Y. used his "ESPN Insider" access to bring us the NFC South scoop from Mel Kiper's latest 3-round mock draft in a recent post on espn.com. Thanks for saving us the subscription fee, Pat!!
Kiper calls for the Saints to select Akiem Hicks, a defensive tackle from Sacramento City College by way of the University of Regina in Saskatchewan (!).
New Orleans doesn't pick until the third round and Kiper has the Saints picking defensive tackle Akiem Hicks. That's a name that should be familiar to some Saints fans. Hicks was recruited by LSU, but wound up playing in Canada. Kiper said Hicks can have an impact right away. That would be nice because Sedrick Ellis is about all the Saints have in the middle of their defensive line.
So, what do you think of the pick, and what do you think of his rationale?
And hey, look at this! If it comes true, we can all shout, "LSU! LSU! LSU!"
