With the twenty-third pick of the 2012 CSC Community Mock Draft, the Detroit Lions (chosen by AcquiredPanic) select...

Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama

Do the Lions need a cornerback? Uh, yeah they do. Need proof? Check out the stats that Drew Brees dropped on the Lions over a two game span last season including their playoff loss. If you don't feel like looking, it was along the lines of 808 total passing yards, 6 touchdowns, and no interceptions.

The Lions are now officially contenders and they are close to having a complete team on both sides of the ball but there are two major problems that the Lions will face every year in the NFC. Unfortunately for the Lions these problems go by the names Brees and Aaron Rodgers. If the Lions want to go deep in the playoffs then they have to improve their secondary.

At this point in the draft it comes down to Dre Kirkpatrick or Janoris Jenkins. I believe Jenkins is the better cornerback but his off the field troubles have killed his draft stock. With Jenkins projected to fall into the second and possibly even the third round (we can only hope), Kirkpatrick should be the Lions only choice at cornerback in this spot.
