Saints Draft Results 2012: Saints Take WR Nick Toon At No. 122

With their second pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and the 122nd overall, the New Orleans Saints have selected Nick Toon, WR, out of Wisconsin.

Toon is 6'2" 215 lbs, and this choice adds depth to the receiving corps, as well as NFL legacy-type talent (his Dad, Al, played WR for the Jets), which the Saints are apparently stockpiling (Ingram and Jordan from 2011 are legacies, too).

Joe Vitt said that Toon was the highest player on the board (as per Larry Holder), and likes this about him (wwltv.com tweet):

"Polished route runner. Can catch outside the frame of his body. ... We have no durability issues (with this player)"

Triplett tweeting Pete Carmichael's take:

#Saints Carmichael said it wasnt specifically about replacing Robert Meachem. It was looking at the board and picking best guy ...

#Saints Carmichael also said Toon is intelligent and they expect him to be able to play different positions.

What say ye at first blush, CSCers?

Next up for the Saints is their choice in the 5th round, #162 overall.
