ESPN announced today that Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been nominated for two ESPYs this year, one for Best Record-Breaking Performance and the other for Best NFL Player.

For Best Record-Breaking Performance, Drew will be going up against Duke Men's Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski, Golfer Lexi Thompson and Yankees Closer Mariano Rivera as nominees. Call me biased, but I think it's a slam dunk for Brees to win.

In the Best NFL Player category, he faces off against Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski, Lions WR Calvin Johnson, Ravens LB Terrell Suggs and Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. If I was a betting man, my money would be on Gronk to win this one.

Brees is no stranger to ESPN hardware, winning three ESPYs in 2010 following the Saints Super Bowl championship.

If that wasn't cool enough, Drew will also appear in the top-10 of the NFL Networks "The Top 100: Players of 2012" airing tonight at 7pm CT. Be sure to watch or at least set your DVR for the 2-hour special. We still don't exactly where in the top-10 he'll land, but I'm sure it won't be in the No. 1 spot, where he belongs.

Now if someone will just award him that big, fat contract he's been looking for...
