Earlier this month SB Nation founder, Tyler Bleszinski, told you guys that big changes and upgrades were on the horizon for the entire network.
Remember, I unveiled our new logo? This one...
Yeah, well I wanted to make sure that you guys realize this whole SB Nation United thing is huge (that's what she said). Things are gonna be different, in a freakin' awesome way. How so?
Well first of all, sites are going to load faster and run better. Who doesn't want that!? High five! SB Nation United is also going to make the experience on our sites run seamlessly from every platform, whether mobile, tablet or computer. No matter where you are, the experience will not change. Boom! You want some more? Think you can handle it?
Check out the new layout which will appear at the top of the page! It's completely flexible and controlled by Hans, David and/or myself. We can change the layout depending on the importance of the story. We can have three stories, four stories, five stories or just highlight one story. We can move things up and down, into the front, up top, or down at the bottom. We can leave a post up there as long as we want and allow the conversation in the comment section to continue to develop, instead of having the story drop down to the bottom of the page over time. Plus it just looks badass. Am I right or am I right?
What else? StoryStream, bitches! The same editorial format that the big boys at SBNation.com use will now be available to us as well. So when big news breaks, we can start a stream and keep updating it as the story continues to develop, keeping it all in one place and allowing you to easily follow along. Peep it:
I've taken the liberty of putting together some answers to questions I think you guys might ask...frequently.
Q. When is this change happening?
A. Soon. Very soon.
Q. What about FanPosts and FanShots?
A. SB Nation United will not take away or change any of the community elements you love like FanPosts and FanShots and GameThreads. In fact, they'er going to be more awesome.
Q. Will I need to make a new account?
A. Nah, brah.
Q. What if I don't like it?
A. Tough $#!%. These changes are going to kick ass, so if you don't like them then you just don't know kick ass. My recommendation would be to give it some time and let it grow on you. Nobody ever likes it when Facebook changes but y'know what? Everyone gets used to it and completely forgets how antiquated Facebook used to be.
Q. Will there be snacks?
Q. Is this the layout we can expect to find on nola.com in two or three years?
A. More than likely. They've already tried to duplicate what we have here. SB Nation is always one step ahead as a trail blazer.
