Saints News, 10/8/13: Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski Expected To Make Season Debut vs. Saints

He's been practicing with the team all season, but has been held out of games as he fully recovers from back and arm ailments. Since he plays for Bill Belichick, it's anyone's guess as to how healthy he truly is. Looks like we'll find out Sunday when the Saints travel to New England. In other news, NFL owners passed a rule today that would allow the league to select a team of its choosing for the HBO/NFL Films reality show 'Hard Knocks' if no other teams volunteer. Teams with a first year head coach and teams that have made consecutive playoff appearances can decline if they wish.

Gronkowski expects to play Sunday | ProFootballTalk
Gronkowski went through a rough offseason in which multiple surgeries were needed for a broken arm and subsequent infection, and the infection delayed his back surgery. There was some talk that the Patriots should have put Gronkowski on the physically unable to perform list and kept him out through Week Six, but if Gronkowski can help the Patriots beat the Saints on Sunday, keeping him on the active roster through five weeks will look like a wise move.

If they win that game, it may be time to recognize them as the top team in the league over the Broncos, who have beaten lesser opponents. Previous Rank: 4
