The New Orleans Saints have place linebacker Jonathan Vilma on injured reserve, officially ending his 2013 season and possibly his career.
It looks like Katherine Terrell of the Times-Pic was the first to report the news:
Saints LB Jonathan Vilma was placed on IR today.

Vilma was very candid about this when he returned to practice, said he's old enough to know better than to push his knee beyond reason.

He said at the time that he'd like to be able to walk when he's older and out of football.

Don't think any Saints fans are surprised by this move. Most of us saw this coming. Vilma hasn't been fully healthy for quite some time.
If this is in fact the last we'll ever see of Vilma in a Saints uniform, it's truly a sad day. We wish him the best of luck in any and all future endeavors... unless it's with the Falcons.
The Saints signed cornerback Chris Carr to fill the empty roster spot.
