As the New Orleans Saints head into the second half of their season, we give you this week's song. As can be expected, it was inspired by this Sunday night's game against Rob Ryan's former team. And for our visiting Dallas Cowboys fans: this is all in good fun. Here's looking forward to a good game day (and night)!
As usual, I've embedded a video with the original song below... in case you can't get the tune in your head.
Enjoy!
(PS. Yes, we know it's not literally an Ode to the Cowboys. The irony is part of the gag.)
Git Along, Little Tony
("Git Along, Little Dogies" parody)
As I am out drinking, and watching some football
The Saints and the Cowboys, on Sunday Night
The crowd is pumped up... and his ears, they are a-ringing
And as he warms up, he is dreading the fight.
Whoopee ti yi yay, run away little Tony
It's your misfortune... you came to our home
Whoopie ti yi yay, sacked again little Tony
You knew what would happen in the Superdome
Brees throws for four hundred, and he makes it look easy,
Throwin' touchdowns to Jimmy, Kenny Stills and Lance Moore.
Galette and Hawthorne... just keep sacking poor Romo,
And they'll be sending him back, to Texas, so sore.
Whoopee ti yi yay, run away little Tony
It's your misfortune... you came to our home
Whoopie ti yi yay, sacked again little Tony
You knew what would happen in the Superdome
An interception, and a couple of fumbles,
We cheer as New Orleans more than covers the spread.
With the pass... with the run... they roll over the Cowboys,
And laugh as poor Romo falls onto his head*
Whoopee ti yi yay, run away little Tony
It's your misfortune... you came to our home
Whoopie ti yi yay, sacked again little Tony
You knew what would happen in the Superdome
*Note: I do not actually dislike Tony Romo; and I hope for a game without injuries, to Tony or otherwise.
