Since the city of New Orleans adjusted the Mardi Gras parade schedule to fit around all of the Super Bowl festivities happening this weekend, there are no parades rolling on the traditional city routes this weekend. But you can still get your Mardi Gras fix this weekend when the Krewe of Caesar starts rolling at 6pm for the 34th time in it's history. The theme of this year's parade is "A Walk in the Park."
Formed by more than 800 men and women members, Caesar is the largest Carnival organization in Jefferson Parish history. This organization is known for spectacular costumes for members of the royal court, with fiber-optics, neon and three-dimensional figures adorning the enormous costume collars.
If you'r lucky enough to make it, be sure to stand on the neutral ground side and look for yours truly on the Harry Potter float #22 (seen in photo). Make a Canal Street Chronicles sign and you'll be lavished with more beads and throws than you could possibly imagine.
We're a family-oriented parade so bring the whole gang. For Super Bowl XLVII visitors staying at the Hilton and Harrah's hotels, there will be busses shuttling guests out to the parade route.
Laissez les bon temps roule!
