Well guys, it's over. The 2012 season that many of us called a nightmare is finally over.
I don't know about the rest of y'all, but I have been waiting for today for a good bit of time now. The reason being, it was just so painful to watch our team underachieve when we knew good and well that they easily could have been playing against the Ravens last night in the Benz. But nevertheless, that matters no more.
To me, I will treat this season like a bad dream. The statistically worst defense in history, the four game losing streak, and most of all, Bountygate, are all in the past. It certainly isn't too hard to forget these things. It's time to take a breather, restart the motors, and get back on track for bigger and better things.
Although the 2013 league year doesn't officially start until March 12th, the new league year will begin immediately for the Saints' front office. They are in the market for a new offensive line coach, a secondary coach, and more importantly a defensive coordinator. As coach Payton said before, the coaching searches will pick up now that the Super Bowl is over. It is extremely important that these positions are filled as soon as possible so the players can get accustomed to the new coaches and the new defensive scheme.
I am very excited for the things that are to come for the Saints. From what I have seen from some of the players, they seem to be thrilled as well. The team has a great nucleus of leadership and experience to build around, and the expectations for next season will be as high as ever.
The road to Super Bowl XLVIII begins now.
