Dallas Cowboys linebacker Victor Butler hasn't really been a name thrown around often during Saints free agency discussion. But he was mentioned twice yesterday as a likely candidate and a potentially good fit for the Saints, by both Evan Silva from Rotoworld and WWL's Jordan Fiegel.
I don't really know much about Butler, probably because he's been stuck playing behind standouts Anthony Spencer and DeMarcus Ware, but the fact that he was pegged as a quality addition by two separate sources has my interest piqued.
The obvious reason he makes sense in New Orleans is because he's familiar with Rob Ryan and his 3-4 defense. He'd also be a more reasonably priced free agent pickup, as opposed to going after a top free agent prospect like Paul Kruger. His salary last year was only $615,000 but Evan Silva projects the Saints would sign him to a four-year contract in the neighborhood of $10 million.
What do you guys think? Is this a possibility?
