The New Orleans Saints have scheduled a visit with Jaguars cornerback Derek Cox, according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union. Cox will also be visiting with the San Diego Chargers.
Cox was a candidate for Jacksonville's franchise tag but the team chose not to use it on him. He could still potentially sign a deal with his current team.
Here's a little background on Cox from Big Cat Country. Go ahead and read what Jags fans are saying.
Cox, 26, was a third round selection of the Jaguars in the 2009 NFL Draft and was an instant starter for the team, but struggled with injuries in his final three seasons with the team. Through four seasons with the Jaguars, Cox has recorded 12 interceptions, 32 passes defended and 170 tackles.
Aside from his injury issues, Cox has talent. He would make a nice addition to the Saints defensive backfield. But he won't come too cheap. He's expected to command a contract somewhere in the neighborhood of four-years for about $6 million a year.
