Saints free agency
Steelers free-agent CB Keenan Lewis says he will visit with New Orleans Saints | NOLA.com
New Orleans native one of the better free-agent cornerbacks on the market
Saints starting to check out secondary options | ProFootballTalk
The Saints slow approach to free agency seems to be picking up a bit. Their first priority, it seems, is addressing the secondary of the worst defense (statistically) in league history.
Saints eye cornerbacks Keenan Lewis, Derek Cox in free agency
A pair of veteran free agent cornerbacks will visit with the New Orleans Saints. One of them does not have to go very far to do so.
New Orleans Saints will host Jaguars CB Derek Cox on Thursday, source says | NOLA.com
Cox, 26, has been a full-time starter for all four of his NFL seasons, though he has missed some time with a series of nagging injuries over the past two years. Cox (6-1, 195) is a big, physical cornerback who would give the Saints a size dimension they don't currently have at the position. He's been a solid, underrated starter for the Jaguars. Last month, NFL Films and NFL Matchup producer Greg Cosell identified him as an under-the-radar corner he liked when discussing possible free agent fits for the Saints' rebuilding defense. Cox has 12 career interceptions since being drafted in the third round out of William & Mary in 2009, including four last year in just 12 games played. He also forced a fumble last year. But he missed four games last year, 10 games in 2011 and three games in 2010 with groin, hamstring, back and rib injuries.
New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton reiterates team taking slow approach in free agency | NOLA.com
Payton said Wednesday morning he understands how fans can be in a bit of a panic seeing the high-priced free agents fly off the board in the first hours the period opens as the Saints sit tight making no moves. Payton pointed out how the Saints have a history of finding their best values where there's a need for the team. Payton also said it's important for the Saints to let the market settle for the first couple of days after the free-for-all and use their money wisely considering the Saints pried themselves under the salary cap Tuesday.
New Orleans Saints agree on four-year deal with long snapper Justin Drescher | NOLA.com
Drescher was the only Saints restricted free agent not issued a tender. But it should come as no surprise the Saints came to terms with Drescher quickly during free agency as he's been dependable on special teams. Terms of the contract weren't available. Drescher had this to say via Twitter: "Back for 4 more years! Thanks for all well wishes and support #Whodatnation Y'all are the best fans in the game! #WhoDat"
Saints taking it slowly so far | ProFootballTalk
Surely, the organization knows what it needs to do. But like plenty of other teams, the Saints are deciding not to get caught up in the annual spending spree that marks the first few days of free agency. Though a flurry of moves can generate interest and sell tickets and in Miami buy votes for a stadium referendum, rarely do the champs of the offseason become the champs of the real season.

If Twitter is anything close to what public opinion is, it was apparent Tuesday night, hours after NFL free agency began, that the Saints were losing that battle.

New Orleans Saints tackle Charles Brown is ready if he's called upon to play left tackle | NOLA.com
"I expect them to (sign an offensive tackle), but if it doesn't happen it doesn't happen," Brown said Wednesday. "It doesn't matter. I'm just about to work. That's all I can do. "All I know is Bushrod in gone."
