NFL Draft 2013: Ohio State Offensive Tackle Reid Fragel Visited Saints

The former tight end turned offensive tackle had a visit with the New Orleans Saints on Thursday.

US PRESSWIRE

Although the New Orleans Saints have signed offensive tackle Jason Smith and had former Oklahoma offensive tackle Lane Johnson in for a visit, according to FOX8 Sports Sean Fazende the Saints kicked the tires on another offensive tackle draft prospect in Ohio State's Reid Fragel.

Fragel has been making the rounds lately with several teams including the New England Patriots. According to many draft sites, Fragel is slated to be be picked as high as possibly the third or fourth round which would make it ideal for the Saints.

Fragel is a former tight end who converted to offensive tackle his senior year, in which he started all 12 games. Although he mainly played the right tackle position, he could be taught to play the left side simply because of his newness at the position.

The same is thought of LA Tech offensive tackle Jordan Mills whom the Saints also brought in for a visit. Mills has played mainly at right tackle but also played left guard. Like Fragel, Mills is considered to be a mid-round pick in the upcoming 2013 NFL Draft.

Fragel (6'8", 308 lbs.) shined at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine where he ran a 5.14 40-yard dash and was the top performer for the offensive tackle group in the bench press (33 reps at 225 pounds), vertical jump (30 inches), and the broad jump (113 inches).
