The Packers need some help on the offensive line, at safety, defensive line and linebacker. Anyone who saw the playoff game against the 49ers knows about the needed defensive help. While going safety or linebacker weighed heavily (I was not comfortable with the available O-lineman here), the defensive line may be even more pressing.

I have not heard much about Jerel Worthy's progression from injury and Ryan Pickett is getting up there in age. The reserves are nothing to get excited over. This is where Datone Jones makes a lot of sense. While some see him being a better fit as a 4-3 end, scouts seem to all agree he has great versitility and fit in the 3-4 easily. He could make an impact early and that could also see an impact in the salary cap situation after this season if Worthy is back to full health, Pickett could be released or may even retire leaving Worthy and Jones as the ends.

Jones can get after the QB and is adept at the run, he's not, in my opinion, going to ever be a big sack guy but you dont have to be in the 3-4. If he gets 5 a year and is stout against the run this will be a highly successful pick. While some may think safety is more pressing, this is a deep, talented safety class, and a there will be high performing guys available in rounds 2 and 3. Jones is the last of the top tier ends, the highest rated player left on the board, and fills a need.

Thanks to all the CSC members who participated in this year's community mock draft. Without your help, none of this would be possible.
