2013 NFL Draft Results: Terron Armstead to New Orleans Saints at No. 75 Overall

New, comments

Meet the No. 75 pick in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, Terron Armstead, offensive tackle out of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and now the New Orleans Saints newest offensive lineman.

With the 75th overall pick in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints have selected Arkansa-Pine Bluff offensive tackle Terron Armstead.

I like the pick. I really, really, really like it.

We know the Saints aren't afraid of taking a player from a small school, and they get an absolute steal here in the middle of the third round. Armstead fills a huge need at left tackle for the Saints and should push Charles Brown for that starting left tackle spot.

Armstead first made a name for himself buy putting up ridiculous numbers at the NFL Combine, including an incredible 4.71 seconds in the 40-yard dash. That's incredible for a 300-pound lineman. How impressive? Check out this gif that splices Armstead's 40-yard dash together with wide receiver T.J. Moe.

With that kind of speed and agility, he'll fit perfectly in this offense that likes to utilize the screen game so much. Armstead remained impressive during his Pro Day.

Dan Kadar of Mocking the Draft has this to say about Armstead:

When they lost Jermon Bushrod in free agency, the Saints had an immediate need at left tackle. With how much the Saints pass the ball, finding a left tackle this draft was imperative. Armstead is a raw player who will have to develop, but that's nothing to New Orleans. Bushrod was developed out of Towson and Jahri Evans has been one of the leagues best guards after coming out of Bloomsburg. If Armstead can be brought along as quickly as Bushrod and Evans were, it's a great pick in the third round.

What do you guys think?
