If you were wondering just how much wiggle room the New Orleans Saints had in salary cap space or whether they could bring in a few more free agents, then wonder no more.
According to the NFLPA, the Saints only have $2,055,979 left in salary cap space. This doesn't bode well for bringing in a big name free agent, of which there aren't too many more left.
Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha was the last feature free agent to visit the Saints and he chose the San Francisco 49ers instead. Of course the Saints weren't out of his price range since he signed for a one-year $1.35 million deal with no guaranteed money.
The Saints could chose to bring in a free agent left tackle to compete in camp with Charles Brown or keep looking to bolster the cornerback position. But they will have to find one that is willing to play for less or settle for filling that need in the upcoming draft.
Of course if we've learned anything in the past few years with the Saints, general manager Mickey Loomis has become a genius at helping the club stretch their dollar to the max.
