New Orleans Saints Sign Korey Lindsey, Brent Leonard

I guess we know who stood out during the Saints rookie minicamp. One roster spot remains.

The New Orleans Saints have signed CB Korey Lindsey and WR Brent Leonard following the completion of their 2013 rookie minicamp this weekend.

Korey Lindsey is originally from Baton Rouge but played his college ball at Southern Illinois. He was drafted 207th overall in the 7th round by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2011 but was released during final preseason cutdowns. He was then signed by the Arizona Cardinals practice squad.

In 2012 he was claimed by the Colts, cut, then signed by the Jaguars to their practice squad. He was most recently let go by the Washington Redskins on April 17th after having his galbladder removed. Lindsey has never made a regular season appearance.

His signing was announce by his agent via Twitter...

Brent Leonard is also a local undrafted product out of the University of Louisiana-Monroe. He was the Warhawks' leading receiver last season with 104 catches for 1,118 yards and 10 touchdowns. Leonard was originally scheduled to tryout for the Cowboys but changed his mind and accepted a tryout offer with the Saints instead. Smart kid.

Larry Holder cites the Monroe News-Star as his source. I haven't been able to track that down, but Leonard's twitter feed suggest the signing is absolutely legit.

According to the official roster on their website, the Saints have one more spot available to sign another player if they wish. And that already includes all of their 2013 NFL Draft picks.
