Alert and vigilant readers of Canal Street Chronicles may have already figured this out based on a few probing questions and comments Ralph and I posted in the last few days, but we're working on another edition of Who Dat History.

With many fans' playoff hopes sky high for 2013 and beyond with the return of exiled head coach Sean Payton, we thought it'd be fun to take a close look at the first-ever playoff year in New Orleans Saints history, which happened during the 1987 season.

For the past couple of weeks, we have been scouring the internet, leafing through primary sources, combing through the receding hairlines of our ever-fading memory banks, seeking to bring you historical context, factual depth, critical analysis, and youtube videos of hilariously-antiquated NFL programming excellence.

In the insightfully humorous manner that only the unique talents of Ralph and Hans can deliver, we'll soon bring you the ins and outs, the highs and lows, the ebbs and flows, and the alphas and the omegas of that magical season that took the Saints and their fans to places they'd never been before in 1987: namely, a winning season and playoff berth.

Prepare yourself for this by thinking back to where you were, who you were, and how you were in 1987 as all this unfolded in dramatic fashion. You might even want to dig those Saints leg warmers out of the trunk in your attic so you can wear them while reading the posts.

We are pleased and proud to be able to bring more of this groundbreaking and award-winning web journalism to you, the loyal CSC readers and rabid Saints fans, and we hope you enjoy it and learn something, too.

Stay tuned...and try not to let the anticipation kill you.
