Steve Gleason is a greater man than most
Steve Gleason releases statement following Atlanta radio segment | NOLA.com
"Regarding the DJ skit in Atlanta yesterday. I would like to thank the public for their support," he wrote. "'Defend Team Gleason' now has been officially redefined. Additionally, the DJs have provided genuine apology. Received and accepted. We have all made mistakes in this life. How we learn from our mistakes is the measure of who we are.
"I think everyone can learn from this event. It's clear to me that, on a national & global scale, ALS is not understood, which is part of why it's underfunded and largely ignored. In the past 36 hours lots of people have been talking. Let's talk about this ...
"There are zero treatments for ALS. If you take any action as a result of this event, I prefer it to be action to end ALS. See what we are doing to change that @ teamgleason.org. SG"

Gleason’s work on behalf of others with the disease has been remarkable and uplifting. But his forgiveness might be as impressive, and an example for each of us.

"I deeply regret the ill attempt at humor from this morning’s show," Cellini wrote on Facebook on Monday night. "I have personally apologized to Steve Gleason and his wife. The comments were insensitive and offensive and do not represent my personal views regarding the severity of the disease."
Community outraged over Steve Gleason skit | wwltv.com New Orleans
"I can't say what I thought about it on TV because it was kind of like, 'those stupid you know what' and I said I can't believe they did that," said WWL Radio Host Bobby Hebert. Hebert says he got his first big break in radio at that very Atlanta station> He said he knows the men behind the joke all to well. "I guess if I didn't know them I would be like, how in the world could they do that? But I am not surprised because they are kind of on the edge," said Hebert during the radio broadcast Monday.

If you're a Saints fan, it's almost humanly impossible that you weren't clued into the story that pretty much blew up twitter yesterday.
790 The Zone, a sports radio station based in Atlanta, has a morning segment correctly titled Mayhem in the A.M. that made headlines Monday for unethical jokes targeted at former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason.
What Steve Gleason means to the Saints - Who Dat Dish
I was absolutely disgusted to hear that 790 the Zone in Atlanta had the guile to make fun of former New Orleans Saint Steve Gleason because he is suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The criticism was immediate from listeners in Atlanta, New Orleans, and even from the Atlanta Falcons.

Before Who Dat Nation gets all indignant at the audacity of considering Jimmy Graham might somehow leave the New Orleans Saints, please remember this is merely presenting an idea based on the fact he is a free agent next year. Graham figures to become one of the premier targets in 2014 and a bidding war should kick off if his current team can’t find the money to pay him.
