Drew and Brittany Brees...At The Movies

The definitive collection of tweets from Drew and Brittany Brees, "At The Movies" in the last year - and what's up with all the cosplay?

Is this more Drew Brees cosplay? Jazz hands?

Over the last few years, as I've collected tweets for the Fleur-de-Links stories I post each weekend, I have noticed that Drew Brees and his wife, Brittany, seem to enjoy not only going to the movies, but dressing up in costume for some of these movies, too.

It's not surprising that this goes on in a city that hosts world-reknown, elaborate Mardi Gras and Halloween costumery each year, but given that it intersects with movies, it takes on an interesting angle for me, with my interest in comic books, sci-fi/fantasy, and the related cosplay that pops up all over the internet from various Comic-Cons and other gatherings of nerds like myself.

Cosplay is simply a more focused subculture of "masking", according to the urban dictionary...

cosplay

Literally "Costume Play." Dressing up and pretending to be a fictional character (usually a sci-fi, comic book, or anime character).
Ex. There are anime cosplay conventions around the world.

Here's a gallery from San Diego's 2012 Comic-Con cosplay.

And then from Philly's just last week!

As you look at all these photos, you'll see they mention sneak previews, premieres, and some star-f******. I guess those are the trappings of fame. Nice life if you can get it!

Not a "going to the movies" cosplay, but cosplay nonetheless...

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>The costume lasted about 2 minutes on Baylen before he traded it in for pajamas but for a short while we were Iron Men! <a href="http://t.co/AViF9Hrn" title="http://twitter.com/drewbrees/status/263827099100536832/photo/1">twitter.com/drewbrees/stat…</a></p>&mdash; Drew Brees (@drewbrees) <a href="https://twitter.com/drewbrees/status/263827099100536832">November 1, 2012</a></blockquote>

And what about you? Do you get invited to sneak previews of movies with Hollywood stars? Have you ever cosplayed for a movie or sporting event or other (outside of a costume party, Halloween, or Mardi Gras)? Can you show us pictures?
