Saints Place Three Rookies On Non-Football Injured List

In breaking news that has broken the monotony of this lazy summer Saturday, Aaron Wilson of the Raven Insider (? - way to go, nola media groop and other local media!) has scooped us all and reported via Twitter that the New Orleans Saints have placed rookies WR Kenny Stills, LB Rufus Johnson, and LB Eric Martin on the non-football injury list.

Props to Stujo4 for emailing this to me, and then I went to my own Twitter feed to find it retweeted by Reid G. of saintswin.com:

I then went to my usual suspects and found absolutely nothing about this on the nola.com, official Saints site, wwltv.com, sportsnola.com, or the advocate.com, so I went back to the Twitter to see what was what:

Saints placed WR Kenny Stills, OLB Rufus Johnson, and OLB Eric Martin on the non-football injury list.
Stills is a fifth-rounder who's unlikely to see significant snaps this season, but he does factor into the Saints' longterm plans. Johnson and Martin are both 'tweener 3-4 outside linebackers who figure to see time on special teams if they make the 53-man roster. Despite failing their physicals, all three players should be ready for training camp. Jul 20 - 9:53 AM
