CSC's 2013 NFL Divisional Predictions: The AFC South

The AFC South has been one of the more disappointing divisions in the NFL. For the second season in a row, they will send two teams (who will ultimately disappoint) to the playoffs.

1. Indianapolis Colts: 12-4

All of a sudden, the Colts have turned into a team that could once again become a perennial playoff contender. After adding Darrius Heyward-Bey this offseason, Andrew Luck now has three legit targets (Heyward-Bey, Reggie Wayne, T.Y. Hilton). Don't discount his two-tight end punch in Dwayne Allen and Coby Fleener, either. Ahmad Bradshaw figures to bring some improvement to the backfield as well. On defense, the Colts beefed up the line with Ricky-Jean Francois, Aubrayo Franklin, and Bjoern Werner. Watch out for the Colts this season.

2. Houston Texans: 9-7

The Texans are a tricky team to predict. They have a pretty meaty schedule, as they play the Colts twice, along with the Seahawks, 49ers, Ravens, Patriots, and Broncos. You can bet that they will lose at least four of those games. Drafting a true receiving threat opposite of Andre Johnson in DeAndre Hopkins was great, but Matt Schaub will likely feed the rock to Arian Foster a lot this year. The defense features J.J. Watt, who nearly broke the single-season sack record in 2012, linebacker Brian Cushing, and newly-acquired safety Ed Reed. They have the tools to be a 12-4 team, but they didn't see much as much improvement as the other teams in the division. They do find a way to sneak into the playoffs as the sixth seed, though.

3. Tennessee Titans: 6-10

The Titans never can catch a break. Their offense is coming together quite nicely, as they added TE Delanie Walker, rookie WR Justin Hunter, and RB Shonn Greene to the lineup, all of whom could do some damage. On defense, though, it's a different story. They don't have many standouts, but they did add DT Sammie Lee Hill and S Bernard Pollard. Unfortunately for them, though, they play the Colts and Texans twice each, and also the Broncos, Seahawks, Steelers, and 49ers. Jake Locker and Mike Munchak should be ejected from the team at the end of this season.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars: 0-16

Let's just face it, the Jaguars have THE worst team in the NFL. Looking at their schedule, there really isn't a game where you can say, "You know what, they could win here." Their best offensive players are Maurice Jones-Drew, who is a great back, and first-round draft pick OT Luke Joeckel. Their defense is nothing special either. They have journeyman pass rusher Jason Babin whom is steadily declining, and that's about it. Sorry Jaguars fans, but your 2013 season is not bright. Your team will join the 2008 Lions as the only two winless teams in a season in NFL history.
