Drew Brees Is Stronger Than You

In this series we take a look at the strongest position on the Saints team. The answer should be obvious.

It's our first edition of the "Stronger Series" at Canal Street Chronicles, where we take a look at the strongest position on the Saints team this year. If you guessed outside linebacker as that position, congratulations! YOU'RE THE DUMBEST PERSON READING THIS!

But seriously, if you don't know why Drew Brees is treated like an Olympic god in New Orleans you certainly haven't been following the Saints since 2006. Brees could kill five orphans in Metairie tomorrow in broad daylight and Mitch Landrieu would give him a key to the city. When people call him Breesus, they really aren't kidding. Just one touch of his jersey has been documented as a cure for AIDS. Drew Brees has taken the quarterback position in New Orleans and completely reshaped it - so much so that people have almost forgotten about Aaron Brooks. That may be a bigger feat than winning the Super Bowl.

This is a guy who has thrown for over 4,000 yards every year he's been with the Saints and broke a Dan Marino record most people thought would survive until they started pumping footballs with helium. He also represents the organization with about as much class as you can imagine a quarterback from Purdue would. Drew Brees IS the New Orleans Saints, and he is the biggest part of the position that is the strongest on this team.

If Drew Brees tore his ACL tomorrow there would vigils throughout the entire Gulf Coast. Businesses would close as we mourned the loss of our most trusted leader. Drew Brees has been the symbol of everything that is good about the New Orleans Saints for seven years now and he only seems to get better with age. Even when he throws a pick we don't blame him for it three-fourths of the time! That is the mark of a true winner. Drew Brees could throw a Jimmy John's sub through a garden hose from 3,000 feet while combing Rob Ryan's hair. And he tips on to-go orders. Do you do that? I didn't think so.

Brees is the strongest person on this team, and he will be forever remembered as the greatest player in organization history.

Oh yeah. His backup is pretty good too.
