Saints Preseason News, 8/19/13: Saints Release QB Seneca Wallace

Anyone that's been watching the Saints in preseason action over the past two weeks can't possibly be surprised by this news. For whatever reason, Wallace looked absolutely horrible against the Raiders last week. I truly felt bad for him. He looked lost out there. On the other hand, Luke McCown looked very good the week before against the Chiefs. Sure, McCown isn't exactly Drew Brees, but of the two veteran QBs signed by the Saints to back up no. 9, McCown is clearly the better choice. Rookie Ryan Griffin (even he looked much better than Wallace!) is most likely headed to the practice squad for further development as Coach Payton's next QB project. UPDATE: Steve Breaston, Patrick Crayton and many other players were also released. See below for details.
