I was asked by Applebee's to choose and discuss the Saints' best player so far in 2013. I couldn't think of anyone else more deserving than tight end Jimmy Graham, who is having one hell of a season.
After his ridiculous performance last week against the Arizona Cardinals (9 catches for 134 yards and 2 TDs), I noted that Graham is ahead of his record-breaking 2011 pace. Here again is how the numbers compare:
2013
Opponent | Receptions | Yards | Average | TD |
Falcons | 4 | 45 | 11.3 | 1 |
Buccaneers | 10 | 179 | 17.9 | 1 |
Cardinals | 9 | 134 | 14.9 | 2 |
Totals | 23 | 358 | 15.6 | 4 |
2011
Opponent | Receptions | Yards | Average | TD |
Packers | 4 | 56 | 14.0 | 1 |
Bears | 6 | 79 | 13.2 | 0 |
Texans | 4 | 100 | 25.0 | 1 |
Totals | 14 | 235 | 17.4 |
2 |
Graham's performance in 2013 is not just impressive for a tight end but for any receiver in general. He currently ranks 5th in the entire league for total catches (23) and 4th overall in total yardage (358).
As fans, I don't think we could possibly ask anything more from Graham. Here's hoping he continues this ridiculous pace against the Dolphins tomorrow on Monday Night Football, and for the rest of the 2013 season.
