NFL Mock Draft 2014: Saints Select Kony Ealy

A Senior Bowl edition mock draft from SB Nation's Mocking the Draft has the Saints taking DE/OLB Kony Ealy from Missouri in the first round.

Ready or not, it's mock draft season and the they'll start being released at mach speed from now until May. See what I did there?

With the Senior Bowl coming up this weekend, Dan Kadar over at SB Nation's Mocking the Draft released his latest mock draft for our approval.

So let's take a look at who he picked for our dearly beloved New Orleans Saints:

27. New Orleans Saints: Kony Ealy, DE/OLB, Missouri

The thought of pairing Ealy with Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan is too intriguing to pass up. Ealy is an extraordinary athlete who should be able to line up at end and outside linebacker, regardless of the formation.

Just like every other mock draft by every mock drafter since 2006, Kadar has the Saints taking a player on the defensive side of the ball.

Which is a little disappointing. This is the first off-season in a long time for the Saints where defense isn't really the top priority. There are a few different directions the Saints can go with their first round selection this year, keeping things interesting and exciting this spring, but I'm not sure defense would be in my top two.

So to see yet another defensive player mocked to the Saints this year is a little too familiar and, dare I say, boring. Then again, if a defensive guy like Ealy is the best player available, I guess it would be in the Saints' best interest to take him.

What do you guys think? Like the pick?
