New Orleans Saints History: Saints Win NFC Championship Game

On this day in Saints history, January 24th, 2010, the team made franchise history by winning it's first and only NFC Championship game.

Chris Graythen

Hard to believe it was exactly four years ago today when the Saints defeated Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings 31-28 in an overtime thriller in the NFC Championship game, advancing the Saints to the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history.

Most of us still have such vivid memories of probably the greatest Saints game ever to be played in the Superdome. Since Canal Street Chronicles was alive and well during this time, I thought it would make a lot more sense to relive the memories through our original coverage at the time. Take a trip down memory lane with these posts. And for those of you who were with us back then, be sure to read your own comments at the time for added nostalgia.

And, of course, the incredible ending. Still gives me chills every time I watch it.

Feel free to share your own memories of that amazing night in the comment section below.
