Saints News, 10/2/14: Darren Sproles Says He Felt 'Disrespected' By Saints

The former Saints RB and current RB on a team that is 3-1 rather than the Saints' dismal record of 1-3, told NJ.com how he felt about the transaction that sent him to the Eagles. Can't say I fault him for being upset. “I felt disrespected there. Listen, I understand this is business and all of that, but they put it up on Twitter. That’s how I found out. There was a screen shot and a friend of mine texted it to me. I felt they did me wrong,” Sproles said, via NJ.com. “First Sean [Payton] told me they were going to cut me. Then I find out on Twitter they’re trading me. That’s just not right. So I really haven’t been in contact with anyone there since I left. I really haven’t paid attention to what they’re doing. I’m more focused on what’s happening here.”

New Orleans Saints offense has been better than last year - ESPN
The biggest difference, obviously, is that New Orleans' defense got off to a great start last year and is off to a lousy start this year. And the offense hasn't been good enough to make up the difference. The Saints’ points per game are down from 27.0 to 23.8 through four games, but that's largely because the Saints aren’t getting as many possessions. They’ve had 9.75 drives per game, which ranks 31st in the NFL.

FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | Film Room: Orlando Scandrick, Teddy Bridgewater
The Cowboys ranked so low in DVOA because their defense is still not dominant. Instead it relies on timely plays to prevent the offense from scoring. In Week 4, the New Orleans Saints found that out as they were held to just 17 points during a comfortable victory for the Cowboys in Dallas. No player epitomized Rod Marinelli's overachieving defense than the recently reinstated Orlando Scandrick.

NFL Week 5: New England Patriots, Tom Brady biggest disappointment - NFL - SI.com
Two NFC South teams sought to improve their secondaries in the offseason by giving long-term deals to seemingly underrated players. The New Orleans Saints signed ex-Bills safety Jairus Byrd to a six-year, $54 million contract with $26.3 million guaranteed to shore up a secondary that had been shaky at best. It isn't any better now, and Byrd is clearly struggling -- he underwent back surgery in May, and that delayed his preparation with his new team, but he's missed five run tackles against four made, and though he hasn't been targeted much just yet (five receptions allowed on eight targets), things aren't working out so far for Byrd in Rob Ryan's scheme.

DeMarco Murray runs off with NFC offensive player of the month | ProFootballTalk
There have been many calls in recent years for the Cowboys to make more of a commitment to the running game, but they have gone largely unheeded until this year. The Cowboys ran the ball early and often with DeMarco Murray over the first month of the season.
