During Sean Payton's interview moments ago, Sean said Jairus Byrd tore his lateral meniscus. He had surgery done this morning and will be placed on season ending Injured Reserve. Unlike a partial tear that only requires rest and time, this tear was bad enough to require surgery, and Jairus Byrd will be done for the year. Sean also said the Rafael Bush would step in as Byrds replacement. Dr. Andrews performed the surgery.
Mike Triplett who covers the Saints for ESPN also reported the injury
Wow - big blow to #Saints defense - Jairus Byrd tore his lateral meniscus in Thursday practice. Will be out for the year.

Interesting side note Vaccaro said Byrd injured himself after making a 1 handed Int in practice when he tried to run after the catch
