Yesterday, Saints beat writer Larry Holder wrote his usual film study piece for the Times-Picayune. This week, of course, Holder was breaking down the Saints 37-31 win over the Buccaneers in overtime.
But even though the Saints won, Holder still broke down the film as he saw it, which included some not-so-nice observations about the performance of guard Jahri Evans.
Certain players shined, others not so much. It really depended on the specific play for someone such as perennial All-Pro guard Jahri Evans.
Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy chewed up Evans for much of the game, and yet Evans steamrolled two Bucs defenders on touchdowns for Pierre Thomas and the game-winner for Khiry Robinson.
Evans remains one of the better guards in the NFL, but McCoy kicked Evans' butt more often than I ever would have imagined.
Maybe I just underestimated McCoy, who's one of the premier defensive tackles in the league. There were several plays where McCoy sped past Evans. McCoy also beat Evans to help induce Brees' first interception.
Apparently, Jahri Evans took exception to the things Holder had to say and sent him a tweet choc full of snark:
@LarryHolder Good luck on winning the Pulitzer award.....

Zing! Shots fired.
But you didn't think Holder was just going to sit there and take it, did you? He responded with an equally snarky, and slightly braggadocios, tweet of his own.
Well Jahri, I'm good there "@J_7TRE_E: @LarryHolder Good luck on winning the Pulitzer award....." pic.twitter.com/E3nnaEXouu

Your move, Jahri. Show him the Super Bowl ring. I bet Larry doesn't have one of those.
