Special teams "phenom" Jalen Saunders opened the game with a kickoff return all the way down to the Falcons one-yard line and then Mark Ingram rushed right in for a touchdown to give the Saints a 7-0 lead. This was the first red zone, goal-to-go conversion I can remember in the Dome in a looooong time.

The Falcons moved the ball in chunks on the subsequent drive, but then stalled at the Saints 29, and had to settle for a Matt Bryant FG to make the score 7-3.

A 63-yard punt (thanks to a nice roll-bounce) following a Saints three-and-out put the ball on the Atlanta 6-yard line, and the defense quickly forced a Falcons punt from the 15-yard line.

The Saints offense took over at the New Orleans 30 and moved to the Falcons 39 before the drive crumbled to dust as it went from 2nd and 2 there to Atlanta ball at the Falcons 45 after a series of s*** sandwich plays by New Orleans. The defense held to force a punt and there has already been some yellow laundry-drawing chippiness that needs to toned down.

The quarter ended with the Falcons driving with a first and 10 at the Saints 45...
