Saints Final Injury Report of 2014 Regular Season: Pierre Thomas and Akiem Hicks to IR

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and this is the last injury report for the 2014 season. Baring any injuries during the Tampa game, (please let there be none) this should be the last report.

Dennis Wierzbicki-USA TODAY Sports

Well Saints fans, we've grown accustomed to the season extending past December, unfortunately that's not happening this year. The recent success of the team has us constantly expecting a post season, however as many of us used to say, "There's Always Next Year". I know it's no consolation that we've been a winning team largely under the Sean Payton/Drew Brees realm, but we'll just have to close out this one and believe that it's only a hiccup. I say believe rather than hope because I'll always believe in my team until the bitter end. Yeah this season's ending did taste a little bitter however I've many previous seasons of disappointment to temper me, and I use refuse to "believe" the run is over. While many of our favorite players are aging, the infusion of youth that the Saints have brought to the table recently leads me to be enthusiastic for the future.   Sometimes injuries are just to much to over come in a year such as this one, and often it takes time for new players to develop within the system. I still believe in the offense, and we should improve next year. If the offense can continue to develop, the defense only needs to be above average for this team to win. I know the prevailing sentiment is that our defense was horrible. Well in fact it was, however it did show flashes of improvement at times, and with returning players more experienced in the scheme, it will hopefully be at least above average next year.

Sean announced a couple of roster moves today. Pierre Thomas and Akiem Hicks were placed on IR and WR Brandon Coleman and LB Jerry Franklin were added to the active roster. Also added C Michael Brewster to the practice squad. That leaves only 9 players on the PS. Sean doesn't expect either one to play Sunday but neither Thomas or Hick were going to be ready.

Interview starts about 34 minutes in.
