The New Orleans Saints have signed former Buffalo Bills safety Jairus Byrd to a 6-year contract, per Greg Bensel on Twitter. Byrd came into town for a visit tonight, and it looks like he's leaving with a contract.

Gotta say I'm surprised. As per usual, Mickey Loomis worked his magic and landed a top level free agent with little to work with.
Must Reads
Byrd will will be expected to start at free safety, taking the spot left vacant by Malcolm Jenkins, who was signed by the Eagles today.
The terms of the contract are as of yet unknown, but Andrew Brandt has a little wisdom to share.
Saints signing Byrd. Will have to structure as Brees: heavy (prorated) signing bonus, low first-year salary. Big Cap jumps to come.
