NFL Mock Draft 2014: Saints Select Cyrus Kouandjio

SB Nation's most recent mock from Mocking the Draft has the Saints taking Alabama offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio, despite rumors of an arthritic knee.

It's Tuesday, which means it's time to analyze another SB Nation mock draft. Mocking the Draft came out with their latest mock draft yesterday and once again they've got a selection for the Saints that I don't really agree with. I'm so hard to please.

Dan Kadar has the Saints getting help along the offensive line and drafting tackle Cyrus Kouandjio out of Alabama. Here's his explanation:

27. New Orleans Saints - Cyrus Kouandjio, OT, Alabama
At the combine, reports surfaced that Kouandjio suffers from an arthritic knee, something that he and his doctors deny. Regardless of its validity, expect Kouandjio to fall some in the draft. What could save him is the multitude of teams that need good offensive linemen. Even if Kouandjio's career is cut short by his mysterious knee, he's a good fit for win-now New Orleans. He should be able to play either tackle spot and is capable both as a pass and run blocker.

Well geez, Dan, you really make this guy sound like a winner. The Saints should definitely take the guy with the sketchy knee who will be lucky to play three years in the league. Great idea!

I don't like the pick. But I'm going to take it easy and not knock it too much because it was made two hours before the Saints announced they had re-signed Zach Strief. However, even without Strief, I don't like the pick. Drafting an offensive tackle and expecting him to start immediately is risky. Tackle is a position that should be addressed in free agency if the need is immediate.

Hey did you notice Kadar's use of the phrase "win-now?" Has someone been lurking on Canal Street Chronicles? I think we've got to give him bonus points for that.

What do you guys think of the selection?
