Mickey Loomis is confident a deal will be reached with Jimmy Graham | ProFootballTalk
"These negotiations are always a process, and Jimmy’s been a great player for us for the last four years," Loomis said. "Look, I had hoped and I’m sure he had hoped we’d come to some conclusion on a longer-term deal before this. But we haven’t yet, and hopefully we will. . . . We’ll just let it play out, and I’m sure we’ll get something resolved."
The NFL Lists Jimmy Graham As A Basketball Player For The Franchise Tag | Kissing Suzy Kolber
Settling an issue that has been a brewing controversy through the first month of the off-season, the NFL officially designated Saints tight end Jimmy Graham as a basketball player for the purposes of the franchise tag.
What should the other tagged players do? | ProFootballTalk
The Saints are likely to give Graham the long-term contract he wants before the July 15 deadline for doing a multi-year deal. If an acceptable agreement isn’t reached, Graham should still wait to sign, skipping training camp and the preseason and showing up as close to the start of the regular season as possible before inking the tender and getting the full amount of the contract with no penalties for holding out, since a guy can’t be fined for holding out if he’s not under contract.
Is Jimmy Graham A Tight End? It'll Cost Him $5.3 Million.
The Saints slapped a franchise tag on Jimmy Graham, allowing them to keep him for one season without negotiating a new deal. But Graham has been designated a tight end; he believes he's a receiver. This is not an academic point: there is more than $5 million at stake.

NEW ORLEANS -- The NFL has formally designated New Orleans' Jimmy Graham as a tight end for the purposes of his franchise tag value, which is now set at $7.05 million next season unless Graham and the Saints subsequently agree on a long-term deal.
