Saints News
Despite heavy investment in safeties, Saints visiting with Louisville safety Calvin Pryor, source says | Black and Gold
Louisville’s Calvin Pryor set up a visit with the Saints for Monday, an NFL source confirmed for The Advocate. NFL Network’s Gil Brandt first reported Pryor would visit the Saints on Monday as well as the Jets and the Bengals this week.
Report: Saints bringing in Calvin Pryor for a visit | ProFootballTalk
A visit doesn’t mean the Saints would draft Pryor. It could be a smokescreen, or an assessment of the player in the event an opportunity arises to trade down.
May 3 deadline for Saints to extend Cameron Jordan, Mark Ingram - ESPN
Extending Jordan is a no-brainer for the Saints. He was a first-time Pro Bowler last year in a breakout season with 12.5 sacks. He is arguably the Saints’ top defensive player as he heads into his fourth NFL season. And he doesn’t turn 25 until July. Ingram is less likely to be extended at that price – even though the Saints remain high on his future and could consider re-signing him to a more affordable extension.

Mickey Loomis: New Orleans Saints' offseason going as planned - ESPN
"We have a short-term plan and a long-term plan," Loomis continued. "And we come into each offseason with 19 or 20 or 25 different things that we want to get accomplished. And you just kind of go down the checklist. And obviously things come up that are unexpected, and you have to react to those. But for the most part, it’s a plan and an execution of the plan.
Brandon Thomas situation unprecedented for NFL, teams | ProFootballTalk
Defensive end Jadeveon Clowney wisely has decided not to risk injury during private workouts, due to the experiences of tackle Brandon Thomas, who tore an ACL while showing the Saints what he can do.
$500,000 guaranteed for Champ Bailey | ProFootballTalk
The Broncos were supposed to pay cornerback Champ Bailey $9 million in 2014. He'll make 1/18th of that guaranteed in New Orleans. Per a league source, NFLPA records reveal that the future Hall of Famer received $500,000 in guaranteed money as part of his two-year deal with the Saints.
Overturning of Bush fine doesn’t mean penalty call was wrong | ProFootballTalk
As a source with knowledge of the appeal process explained it to PFT, fines apply only for egregious violations. A violation can still happen, but without rising to the level of something for which the player should be fined.

49ers haven’t decided to pick up the fifth-year option on Aldon Smith | ProFootballTalk
By all accounts and appearances, 49ers linebacker Aldon Smith decided at the wrong time in the worst place to be a wiseacre. And now the 49ers have to decide what to do. It's extremely unlikely they'd cut him, because he'd be gobbled up on waivers -- possibly by another team in the division.
Aldon Smith released from custody after posting $20,000 bail | ProFootballTalk
49ers linebacker Aldon Smith's Sunday trip to the airport in Los Angeles ended with a visit to jail instead of a flight to another city, but he was released before the night was out. Smith was booked for being in violation of California Penal Code 148.

The hog may be fat, but it's not stupid. In an interview with Peter King of TheMMQB.com, new NFL Network chief Brian Rolapp says that the NFL won't be shifting to a pay-only model any time soon
