2014 NFL Draft Results: Saints Trade with Cardinals, Pick Brandin Cooks 20th Overall in First Round

The New Orleans Saints select wide receiver Brandin Cooks from Oregon State after trading with the Arizona Cardinals to move seven spots to the 20th overall pick.

Joe Nicholson-US PRESSWIRE

The New Orleans Saints have traded with the Arizona Cardinals to move up to the 20th overall pick and selected wide receiver Brandin Cooks from Oregon State.

The Saints gave up their 27th overall pick in the first round in addition to a 3rd round draft pick this year.

We already knew the Saints might possibly trade up when we learned they were one of a few teams reportedly talking with Miami earlier. Looks like they had to find another partner, but the Saints got their man.

Cooks is a short, speedy playmaker. Sound familiar? Sean Payton may very well have just drafted his Darren Sproles replacement.

On the personal side, if you haven't already read this article about Brandin Cooks yet, do yourself a favor, stop what you are doing, and read it.

Cooks was ranked 14th on our CSC Community Big Board.
