Saints Injury Report After 26-24 Win Over Rams in Preseason

The Saints, who listed a dozen inactives prior to the game, nearly finished the game versus the Rams unscathed.

Just a few hours before the start of the Saints' matchup against the Rams, the team announced that twelve players would be held out of the game.

New Orleans Saints Inactive list
Player Position Injury
Drew Brees QB Oblique
Champ Bailey CB Ankle
Kenny Stills WR Quadriceps
John Jenkins NT Pectoral
Andy Tanner WR Undisclosed
Terrence Frederick CB Undisclosed
Erik Lorig FB Undisclosed
Ben Grubbs OG Undisclosed
Jahri Evans OG Undisclosed
Ty Nsekhe OT Undisclosed
Je'Ronn Hamm TE Undisclosed
Victor Butler OLB Undisclosed

In addition to this list, running back Pierre Thomas, who had been practicing regularly up to this point, was mysteriously missing from pre-game warmups and in turn missed the exhibition match versus the Rams.

As far as in-game injuries, the Saints were in route to finish the game injury free.  However, backup cornerback Brian Dixon left the game in the fourth quarter with the help of team trainers.

From the list of players labeled as 'inactives' for this game, Drew Brees and Kenny Stills slowly were beginning to make their ways back from missed practices and were held out largely for precautionary purposes.  The team might stick with this mentality when the Saints take on the Titans in the Superdome next Friday, but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw these two at least see a few snaps of live action.  Players like Champ Bailey, Ben Grubbs, and John Jenkins, on the other hand, will likely sit out once again as they have missed a lot of training camp due to injury.

While the list of injuries may seem large, do not be alarmed just yet.  It is still extremely early in the preseason and none of the injuries appear to be serious.  To be fair, Coach Payton has (as usual) been mum on the topic of injuries.
