NFL Picks Week 14: Misery and Famine

New, comments

Week 13 once again saw the Saints failing to hold onto a late lead, as their defense fell to pieces. Now we enter Week 14 and we take a look at what the Saints, as well as the rest of the league have on deck.

Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Saints lost their chance to end Carolina's undefeated streak in Week 13, now they face another divisional rival in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  The Bucs are fighting for a Wild Card spot while the Saints are fighting for pride at this point.  The Saints defense may very well be the worst of all-time, and that fact doesn't seem to be ending any time soon.  Once again, it will be up to Drew Brees and the Saints offense to have a huge day in order to even give the team a semblance of a chance at victory.

The Saints and Who Dat Nation have been deeply mired in misery over the past month and the famine from victories have left both the team and its fans starving for a win.  Hopefully that win will come to fruition this Sunday in Tampa.  Let's take a look at all of the intriguing matchups in the league this week as we enter the final stretch of the 2015 NFL season.

Last week I went 11-5

I told you so: Bills over Texans!

What do I know: Saints over Panthers?

Thursday, December 10th - Thursday Night Football

Vikings(8-4) at Cardinals(10-2)

Minnesota, still reeling from their brutal home loss last week, now travel to Arizona to face what may likely be next month's NFC Champions.  Arizona wins 24-13.

Pick: Cardinals

Sunday, December 13th - Early Games

Bills(6-6) at Eagles(5-7)

Philly may have shocked the league last week in Foxboro, but they will come back down from that cloud, with a home loss to Buffalo.

Pick: Bills

Seahawks(7-5) at Ravens(4-8)

Seattle's confidence is beginning to soar, and that confidence will continue to grow with an easy win in Baltimore.  Seattle wins 28-12.

Pick: Seahawks

49ers(4-8) at Browns(2-10)

San Francisco will run the ball up and down the field in Cleveland.  San Francisco wins 10-7.

Pick: 49ers

Lions(4-8) at Rams(4-8)

Matthew Stafford and the Detroit passing attack will outplay Todd Gurley and the St. Louis rushing attack.  Detroit wins 27-15.

Pick: Lions

Titans(3-9) at Jets(7-5)

In a defensive contest, the Jets will put together more offense than Tennessee.  Jets win 21-13.

Pick: Jets

Steelers(7-5) at Bengals(10-2) - Game of the Week

Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh offense will score points, but their defense will falter in Cincinnati  Cincy wins 35-24.

Pick: Bengals

Colts(6-6) at Jaguars(4-8)

Kickers will rule the day in Jacksonville, as points may be hard to come by.  Indy wins 15-12.

Pick: Colts

Chargers(3-9) at Chiefs(7-5)

Kansas City will dominate every facet of this game at home against lowly San Diego.  Kansas City wins 25-10.

Pick: Chiefs

Redskins(5-7) at Bears(5-7)

Both teams are fighting for an unlikely playoff spot, but Chicago will get a late field goal, and redemption for Robbie Gould, for a big home win.  Chicago wins 31-28.

Pick: Bears

Falcons(6-6) at Panthers(12-0)

Atlanta continues to crash and burn while Carolina stays unbeaten.  Carolina wins 38-7.

Pick: Panthers

Saints(4-8) at Buccaneers(6-6)

Tampa will control the clock and tempo behind their devastating ground game, which New Orleans will have no answer for.  The Saints will desperately need to get a big game out of their own rushing game, but that may prove too difficult a task, considering how thin they are at the position.  The killer for the Saints ultimately will be their atrocious defense allowing rookie Jameis Winston to have his best game of his rookie campaign in this one.  The Saints keep it close, but will ultimately fail due to defensive ineptitude.  Tampa wins 26-21.

Pick: Buccaneers

Sunday, December 13th - Late Games

Raiders(5-7) at Broncos(10-2)

Denver's top-ranked defense, as well as their balanced offense, will once again be too much for Oakland.  Denver wins 24-13.

Pick: Broncos

Cowboys(4-8) at Packers(8-4)

Green Bay has seemed to find their way, with a little luck, and that will continue at home against harmless Dallas.  Green Bay wins 36-21.

Pick: Packers

Sunday Night Football

Patriots(10-2) at Texans(6-6)

Following an astonishing home loss to Philly last week, New England will get back on track against an average opponent in Houston.  New England wins 38-24.

Pick: Patriots

Monday, December 14th - Monday Night Football

Giants(5-7) at Dolphins(5-7)

The Giants' inability to run the ball or play any defense will make this game closer than it has any business being.  Fortunately for the G-men, Miami is below average at just about everything.  Giants win 23-20.

Pick: Giants

There it is, Week 14 of the NFL season.  Maybe the Saints can end the misery and famine we have all felt for the past month, if only for one week.  Leave us your picks, comments, and insight below.
