Saints Coach Sean Payton Announces Coaching Additions

Most of these hires we already knew of through the "grape vine", and were confirmed this morning.

New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton announced the team's 2015 coaching staff additions Wednesday; including three former NFL players, two former Saints staff members and a former NFL head coach. He has hired Dennis Allen as senior defensive assistant, John Morton as wide receivers coach, Joel Thomas as running backs coach, James Willis as defensive assistant/linebackers, Kyle DeVan and Greg Lewis as offensive assistants and Brendan Nugent as a coaching assistant.

Dan Roushar is now TE coach.

Dennis Allen returns to the Saints after serving as the Oakland Raiders Head Coach from 2012 thru 2014. Allen was the assist and D line coach for the Saints from 2006- 07 before being promoted to the secondary coach from 2008-10.

John Morton was the assistant/ passing game coach on Sean's first coaching staff in 2006. From 2011-14, Morton was a coach with the San Francisco 49ers. He has 17 years coaching experience both in college and the NFL.

Joel Thomas was running back coach the last two years at the U of A, for the Razorbacks, and will fill the same position with the Saints.

James Willis spent the pass two seasons at my alma mater, The University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he developed the Ragin' Cajuns into a top defensive units in the Sun Belt conference.

Kyle Devan a five year NFL offensive lineman, spent 2014 as a graduate assistant at the University of SoCal.

Greg Lewis was wider recievers coach at University of Pittsburg in 2014, San Jose State in 2013, and the University of San Diego in 2012.

Brendan Nugent spent the past two years as offensive quality control coach with the Chicago Bears.
